Employers & Communities:
The employers and communities I have joined all connect back to the degree that I have a goal of completing. They include Telstra Corporation Ltd, Computer Science & IT (Deakin), Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment (Deakin), Cisco Systems, Leidos, and The Australian Federal Police (AFP).
Telstra Corporation Ltd:
Telstra is becoming one of the biggest national leaders in technology and with their skill base and knowledge, the experience that I would receive from either a part time job or an internship could be one of the greatest stepping stones for my future career goals. In a career with Telstra, I am able to broaden my conventional skills to further approve ideas and successfully complete projects.
Computer Science & IT (Deakin):
The Computer Science and IT department in Deakin is one that I would like to keep up to date with as it will continuously post updates on new job availabilities and internships among the IT circle. This will make it easier to seek for jobs that are relevant to the skills that I would develop over time during my education and the skills that I have proceeded to grow with my past work experience.
Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment (Deakin):
The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment department in Deakin, will offer the same opportunities for me as the Computer Science and IT department community would provide me. The main reason I follow this community is because the careers that are mentioned are various to rather than a heavily reliant IT job. It will offer careers from all sectors of this faculty, which will also help keep my options open for future decisions.
Cisco Systems:
With Cisco systems, the employees are challenged to create technologies that are demanded by customers. As part of my past experience with my job, I have come to love the challenges that are set up by either the customers or management in order to prove my ability to create something amazing under a certain pressure. It brings in my skills of Working under Pressure, and with it being a team base career, it also requires the skill that I have adopted with working in a team effectively to produce an outcome that benefits both the employees and clients. It combines IT, Sales and Services into each role which I have built up from my previous role and responsibilities.
Leidos:
Leidos is a company that mainly consists of jobs that rely on HR, Finance and IT teams to deliver trusted solutions that provides safety over Australia. The values that need to be considered for a job at Leidos is Collaboration and Commitment. With my previous experience with work, I have grasped the knowledge and skills to be able to work cooperatively with a team of people, embracing others ideas and also inputing my own ideas to effectively come up with a solution that would best solve a problem. This also involves commitment to the work. With a skill of dedication, this will give me grounds to pursue further with the projects I receive.
Australian Federal Police:
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) are known to be committed to the variations in a workforce and communities that they serve. This connects to my main value of diversity and people of all different types of genders, religions, backgrounds, etc. being accepted into a community. As one of the requirements, I need to have a qualification in Criminology that would also apply to the course that I have chosen. The AFP offer a graduate program, which I will hopefully undertake once I graduate from my course at Deakin.
